Daily Current Affairs for 30th May 2017 ( English)

1.       India’s own Global Positioning System “Nav IC” will be operational from 2018.The Indian system is expected to be significantly more accurate than the GPS powered by American Satellites. The American GPS with 24 satellites in a constellation has wider reach and covers the entire world  while NavIC  with 7 satellites  covers only India and its surroundings.
2.       Union Government launched a new campaign called “Darwaza Band “ on 30th May 2017 for the promotion of toilet usage in the rural areas across the country. Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan who  leads the campaign is proposed to be joined by the  Union Minister of Drinking water and sanitation Narendra Singh Tomar and Maharshtra CM Devendra Fadnavis at the formal launch event held in Mumbai. The campaign also features , Actress Anushka Sharma who will be seen encouraging women to stand up for  this issue in their villages .
3.       A new glass frog species Hyalinobatrachium yaku with transparent skin and visible  beating heart was found in Eucador.
4.       China was rankled as the most complex tax jurisdiction in Asia –Pacific as per 2017 Asia Pacific Tax Complexity Survey conducted by Deloitte.
5.       President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al -Sisi  has signed into a law  a contentious new bill to regulate non- governmental organizations (NGO’s), making it harder for charities to operate.
6.       Gregg Allaman , the renowned musician of the United States has passed away recently.
7.       Former Panama dictator Manuel Noriega  has passed away recently.
8.       The foot ball club Paris Saint Germain  won the Coupe de France for the 11th time in its record. The Coupe Charles Simon also known as French Cup is the premier knock out cup competition in French football organized by the French Football Federation.

9.       Afghanistan has witnessed the launching of its first ever women’ s only Television channel.
10.   India signed a MoU with Island Nation  Fiji on defence , military training, humanitarian assistance and disaster management  in New Delhi on 29th May 2017.
11.   The Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar has launched a UGC mobile App on anti-ragging on 29th May 2017 in New Delhi which aims to completely eliminate ragging in colleges.
12.   NASA develops technology to help drones to land safely during emergency. After 8 test flights the technology has successfully spotted safer landing zones like swamps or drainage ditches to crash.
13.   Researchers  in the US  have reportedly identified a new way to slow down the growth of cancer cells by a new method which involves a protein called Tudor-SN and the gene editing technology CRISPR-Cas9.
14.   Manipur Government have declared Dailong village of Tamenglong district as a Bio diversity heritage city of the state .
15.   Swiss top Stan Wawrinka successfully defended his Geneva Open Men’s single title with a victory over Germany’s Mischa Zverev. The 2017 Geneva title is the 16th title of his career.
16.   The Goa State government has decided to ban buying and selling of plastic bags below 50 microns. Goa has already banned the use of plastic bags below 40 microns.
17.   The Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has appointed a renowned social and educational activist George Kurian as Vice-Chairman of National Commission for Minorities.
18.   Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation ( GCMMF) ( under brand name  Amul)  signed a MoU  with ISRO  for fodder acreage assessment using the satellite observation and space technology.
19.   The President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the Hindi Sevi Samman awards 2015  to 26 eminent Hindi scholar under 12 different categories at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi on 30th May 2017.
20.   A special central Bureau of investigation ( CBI) court of Lucknow on 30th May 2017 granted bail to all the accused of Babri Masjid Demolition Case including BJP stalwarts Murli Manohar Joshi, LK Advani  and Union Minister Uma Bharti on personal bond of Rs. 50000 each.
21.   Along with existing 7 law colleges in Tamil Nadu, three new colleges to be opened at Villupuram, Dharmapuri and Ramanathapuram districts in this academic year 2017-18. And there is no age limit for joining in this 3 year and 5 year course of law .
