கூ.தக. :ஆங்கிலேயர்களிடம் இருந்து இந்தியா சுதந்திரம் பெற்ற பிறகு 1949 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 15-ந்தேதி, சுதந்திர இந்தியாவின் முதல் ராணுவ தளபதியாக, ஜெனரல் கே.எம். கரியப்பா பொறுப்பேற்றார். இதனை நினைவு கூறும் விதமாக ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜனவரி 15-ந்தேதி இந்திய ராணுவ தினமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
