மெட்ராஸ் மகாணத்தின் முதலாவது செய்தித்தாளான “Madras Courier” 12.10.1785 இல் ரிச்ச்ர்ட் ஜான்ஸ்டன் (Richard Johnston) என்ற ஆங்கிலேயரால் வாரம் ஒரு முறை வெளியிடப்படும் செய்தி பத்திரிக்கையாக நிறுவப்பட்டது.
