TN Skill Development Corporation - Loyola College Collaborates to offer Certificate program in Applied Journalism 

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and the Loyola College (Autonomous), Chennai offers a six-month Certificate program in Applied Journalism (CAJ) free of cost.

The last date for application is 5 December 2022 

The six-month certificate program is for young aspirants who would love to create an impact on the world of ideas. 

The skills they acquire during this program will go a long way in shaping them as opinion leaders. They learn the craft of journalism from the pioneers of Tamil and Tamil Nadu media. 

The eligibility for the program is any bachelor's degree. The candidates should be in the age group of 20 to 25.

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation in association with the Loyola College, has taken this initiative to produce young journalists who will carry news of public interest. And, the students will be trained to write and report on specialized areas with analytical perspective. 

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation aims to create employable talents for the emerging needs of the traditional and digital media ecosystems. 

The course lays a strong foundation for the skills required for the trade of journalism. It has the right mix of theory and practice woven into the curriculum design. 

It has weekly workshops and field visits. It has recurring interactions with media professionals who are leaders in their chosen areas of expertise. And, students will be given orientation and specialized training on electives - Development journalism, Economics and Finance, Science and Environment, Politics and Culture, Sports and Entertainment. 

The students will learn the skills of writing and reporting- print, photography, design, videography, Radio, Television, digital media, mobile and drone journalism. They also understand the legacy of Tamil language journalism. The course programs the students to be ready for the media industry. 

Candidates have to attend regular classes in the Chennai campus of Loyola College, Monday to Friday. The last date for application is 5 December 2022.
