நாட்டிலேயே பழங்குடியினர் அனைவருக்கும் தடுப்பூசி செலுத்திய முதல்மாவட்டம் எனும் பெருமையை நீலகிரி மாவட்டம் பெற்றுள்ளது. நீலகிரி மாவட்டத்தில் தகுதி வாய்ந்த 21,151 பழங்குடியினர் மற்றும் 38,658 தேயிலைத் தோட்டத்தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு 100 சதவீதம் தடுப்பூசி செலுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
