The notification for the Group-1 examination to fill 72 vacancies, including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, was released on April 1. Similarly, it was announced that there are 2 vacancies in the Group-1A category as well.
For these exams, 44 centers were set up across Tamil Nadu, with 170 centers in Chennai alone. Out of 249,294 candidates who were permitted to write the Group-1 preliminary exam held on Sunday, 186,128 appeared for the exam, while 63,166 were absent.
TNPSC Chairman S.K. Prabhakar conducted a direct inspection at the Chennai Egmore State Girls Higher Secondary School. Later, speaking to reporters, he said: “We are conducting the exams as per the scheduled plan. The results of the Group-1 preliminary examination will be released within two months. Subsequently, the main exams will be held.
Through TNPSC, 10,701 people were provided employment last year, and from January this year, 10,227 people have been given jobs. By the end of the year, employment will be provided to another 12,231 people,” he said.
