Educational Qualification for Tourist Officer Exam
a) (i) PG degree in Travel and Tourism; (or)
(ii) Any PG degree with one subject on Tourism; (or)
(iii) Any PG degree with M.Phil in Tourism; (or)
(iv) Any PG degree with diploma in Tourism

b) Certificate course in Computer on Office Automation awarded by the Directorate of Technical Education or its equivalent; and

c) Proficiency in English and Tamil Languages;

Note : Provided that other things being equal, preference shall be given to the holders of MBA degree.



Maximum Age Limit (as on 01.07.2017)
  • SC/SCA/ST/MBC/DCs/BC/BCM/Destitute widows of all castes - No Age Limit
  • Other than SC/SCA/ST/MBC/DCs/BC/BCM/Destitute widows of all castes  - 30 Years

TNPSC Tourist Officers Recruitment Pattern

There will be three consecutive steps,  a candidate must go through.
1. Preliminary Exam
2. Main Exam
3. Interview / Oral Test

Tourist Officer Exam Pattern (Preliminary Examination)
(Total 200 Objective Type Questions for 300 Marks)
General Studies (Degree Standard) - 175 Questions
Aptitude and Mental Ability Test (S.S.L.C. Std.) - 25 Questions

Tourist Officer Exam Pattern (Mains Examination)

Paper 1 - General Studies - 300 Marks
Paper 2 - Tourism Principles and Practices - 300 Marks
Paper 3 - Tourism Administration and operations - 300 Marks
