Daily Current affairs for 9th June 2017 ( English)

1. State-run oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) will revise the prices of petrol and diesel daily from June 16 throughout the country. Following the success of the  month-long pilot run in Udaipur, Jamshedpur, Puducherry, Chandigarh and Vishakhapatnam from May 1. 
2. A minor planet in Milky Way named after Sahithi Pingali, a twelfth grader from Bengaluru ,as a reward for developing an integrated mobile phone app and lake monitoring kit to monitor pollution in water bodies.

5. The Union Ministry of Law and Justice has cleared the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Karnataka Amendment) Bill 2017, and thus legalising Kambala. The bill will now be sent to the President for getting his assent.
6. The World Health Organization (WHO) has revised the protocol for antibiotics with an aim to curb antibiotic resistance. WHO has divided the drugs into three categories — access, watch and reserve. Commonly used antibiotics will be placed under the ‘access’ category. Antibiotics which are slightly potent will be placed under ‘watch‘ category. The highly potent drugs which should be used only as a last resort will be placed under the ‘reserve’ category.
7. During the inaugural session of the BRICS Media Forum  held in Beijing, Xinhua News Agency and executive president of the Forum had announced that the Xinhua news agency will invest  one million U.S. dollars for boostering BRICS media.
8. The ‘Selfie with Daughter’ campaign was started in village Bibipur, Jind, Haryana by a former Sarpanch Sunil Jaglan in June 2015. But now our President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has launched a mobile Application ‘Selfie with Daughter’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The App is aimed at raising awareness among people about female foeticide and sex selection.
9. Virat Kohli, is the only one top feature among the World’s 100 highest paid athletes in the latest Forbes list.
10.Cricketer Muttiah Muralidharan was recently inducted into the ICC cricket hall of fame.
11.The Union Cabinet approved MoU for export credit of USD 9 billion between Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) and Export –Import Bank of South Korea.
12. The book titled “ Who has seen the Wind”  is authored by WO Mitchell.
