580 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின்பு நீண்ட சந்திர கிரகணம் 19-11-2021 அன்று நிகழ்கிறது. சந்திரனை பூமி முழுமையாக மறைத்தால் அது முழு சந்திர கிரகணம் என்றும், ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பகுதியை மட்டும் மறைத்தால் அது பகுதி கிரகணம் என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறது.
இதற்கு முன்பு நீண்ட சந்திர கிரகணம் 1440-ஆம் ஆண்டு பிப்.18- ஆம் தேதி நிகழ்ந்தது.
